Read about the new listing requirements for exporters doing business in Taiwan.
Soon U.S. exporters of seafood products into Taiwan will be required to appear on Taiwan Food & Drug Administration’s (TFDA) list of approved establishments eligible to export fish and fishery products for human consumption. The implementation date for the listing requirement is not yet known. NOAA’s Seafood Inspection Program (SIP) will continue to alert industry as new information is available.
U.S. exporters who are currently shipping to Taiwan, or intend to, are encouraged to begin the listing process as soon as possible. U.S. establishments are eligible for the TFDA list if they are in compliance with applicable FDA requirements for the products intended for export.
For more details, including step-by-step instructions on how to apply, visit Online Applications for Export Lists. Please contact the Export Certification Team at CFSANExportCertification@fda.hhs.gov with additional questions.
The SIP has also updated their export requirements page for Taiwan with the following new information. Effective immediately, TFDA is enforcing a list of accepted HS codes for import. ONLY products listed are eligible for certification to Taiwan. As long as the 6-digit HS code on the health certificate is on the list provided by Taiwan, your product is eligible for export to Taiwan. Do not worry about any additional digits or the product descriptions on their list, since they may suffer from poor translations.
