Sweet Sales From Sweets & Snacks Buyers Mission Participation

Herr Foods, a widely known snack brand from Nottingham, Pennsylvania, has been an active participant in many Food Export-Northeast programs since 2003. Herr’s has been exporting their products for nearly 30 years but they are always looking to expand distribution in foreign markets, and Food Export’s programs and services have provided them an easy avenue to make credible connections with buyers from many markets around the world.

In 2018, Herr Foods attended six different Food Export Buyers Mission to meet international buyers and promote their products without leaving the U.S. Specifically in May the supplier attended Food Export – Midwest’s Sweets & Snacks Buyers Mission at the Sweets and Snacks Expo in Chicago, Illinois. At this mission they met with buyers from Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates to introduce their snack products.

These introductions and meetings helped lead the company to over $120,000 in new export sales to Austria, the United Kingdom and South Korea. They also project to complete over $200,000 more in sales over the next twelve months while also having secured three new agent relationships.

Herr Foods, founded in 1946 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, produces snack food products for both retail and food service distribution. Herr Foods began as a local Pennsylvania potato chip manufacturer and they now also produce other snack products such as pretzels, kettle chips, corn chips, popcorn, and cheese curls for worldwide distribution.  

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
